Rõõm - joy, happiness
Rõõm is a small and joyful lifestyle & design shop with an art gallery space located in the trendy district of Kallio. The word 'rõõm' comes from Estonian language and means 'joy' and 'happiness'.
We support local artists and designers by having their unique and beautiful products available in the shop and renting out the gallery space for small exhibitions. We prefer eco-friendly and ethically produced items, and know our products thoroughly - who made them and where, and which materials were used.
Rõõm is run by Maija Ukko and Tiina Achrén, who both work on their own projects in the studio behind the shop. Maija works as a dressmaker - designing and sewing custom made clothing for women, and eco-friendly children's wear. She also works as a visual artist, illustrator and blogger. Tiina is a graphic designer and has her own well-known brand Kuviokioski.
Coming soon! We will be opening our own online shop with a small and carefully picked selection of paper products, jewellery, accessories and home decor items.
Maija and Tiina met, when Tiina's husband ordered a portrait of Tiina and their children from Maija. The husbands already knew each other, and Maija mentioned to Tiina's husband, that they have some space available in the studio at Rõõm. Tiina came by, liked the place and stayed!
